The correct term for my profession -in Germany in its literal translation- is psychological psychotherapist with a focus on psychodynamically grounded psychotherapy. That sounds quite complicated, doesn't it? It is. It refers to several things at the same time. Firstly, to my basic profession as a psychologist. Secondly, it refers to the path to becoming a psychotherapist. Thirdly, to the process I have learned to treat mental disorders. In the following, I will offer you an insight as to what this means concretely.
